Beetle Stool / Keverkruk

With buzzing wings, it buzzed by and gently plopped down on the palm of my hand. Just a few seconds before it stretched its wings and took off were the beginning of a lifelong fascination for me as a six-year-old boy.

The Beetle Stool is an ode to the wondrous creature that drew me deeper into nature.

From a combination of material experiments and the need for a multifunctional stool for my own use, I designed a stool with subtle details of a beetle in 2017. In september 2021 I breathed new life into it.

Three legs and a seat were individually extracted from a stainless steel sheet, then folded, welded and polished. Finally, they were heat-treated to extract the color from the material. These polished colors and beetle-like shapes make me dream back to those days as a six-year-old boy with the beetle on my hand.
